Orbit Resources (ASX:OBT) has intersected more massive sulphides at the Lewis Ponds Project in New South Wales as it pursues opportunities to expand the broader mineralised system.
As part of a four-hole diamond drilling program, hole GLPDD012 intersected 11.8m of semi-massive to massive sulphide mineralisation from 255.3m.
The intersection includes 4.2m of 25% semi-massive sulphides from 255.3m and 3.55m of 50% massive sulphides from 260.9m.
Assays from the hole are pending, with results expected this quarter.
Managing Director Jeneta Owens says the drill hole has intersected a ‘substantial’ zone of visually identified semi-massive to massive sulphides at Tom’s Lode, broadly where predicted by the geological model.
“While assays are pending, the intersection provides further confidence in management and the exploration team’s geological interpretation of this section of the existing mineral resource,” Owens says.
“With GLPDD013 — the final diamond hole of the current drilling campaign — progressing at Spicer’s Lode, our focus remains on strengthening confidence in the existing 17.52 million tonnes mineral resource, while pursuing opportunities to expand the broader mineralised system at Lewis Ponds.”
Lewis Ponds drilling nears completion
Three diamond holes have been completed for a total of 1,168.8m. The final 300m hole is currently progressing.
Drilling is focused on increasing confidence in the existing mineral resource and supporting future metallurgical test work.
Upon completing the final drill hole, Orbit will interpret the assay results and select representative drill core for future metallurgical test work.
The company will then analyse high-resolution drone magnetic data collected further along strike from the Cousin Jack discovery. This is scheduled for completion in October.
Lewis Ponds, covering around 148km², contains a JORC mineral resource of 9.09 million tonnes (Mt) indicated and 8.43Mt inferred, grading 1.12 grams per tonne gold, 53.34g/t silver, 2.06% zinc, 1.10% lead, and 0.14% copper.
A previous Scoping Study outlines an open-pit and underground mine design, with an initial operating mine life of 12 years and throughput of 1.25Mt per year.
