The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) has risen 23.7 points this morning (16 October) as of 11.10 AEDT, with the index gaining 0.5% over the last five days.
Sectors were mixed at open, with the materials sector gaining 0.03%, with explorers such as Genesis Minerals (ASX:GMD) making the top five gains.
The company jumped 5.69% to trade at $6.87.
Bellevue Gold (ASX:BGL) is also performing higher, up 3.92% at $1.32.
Meanwhile, Iluka Resources (ASX:ILU) and Liontown Resources (ASX:LTR) have fallen at the open, decreasing by 7.33% and 3.81% respectively.
The S&P/ASX200 is Australia’s leading share market index and contains the top 200 ASX-listed companies in terms of market capitalisation, and accounts for about 80% of the country’s equity market.
The index is designed to measure the performance of the 200 largest index-eligible stocks listed on the ASX by float-adjusted market capitalisation.
It is recognised as the institutional investable benchmark in the country.
