The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) has dropped 1.9 points this morning (7 July) to a total of 8,601.1 points as of 10.25am (AEST) although eight sectors are reaching heights.
The mining sector is filling the gains and declines list on the S&P/ASX200 with an overall 2.91% rise in value, with Spartan Resources (ASX:SPR) now trading at $1.92, representing a 1.58% increase.
Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN) is also up 1.36% to a share price of $25.3 after appointing new non-executive directors within the company.
On the decline, Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST) announced an operational update this morning, prompting a 6.41% drop this morning to a trading price of $17.21.
Evolution Mining (ASX:EVN) is also facing a 2.43% drop, now trading at $7.62 per share.
Regis Resources (ASX:RRL) and Westgold Resources (ASX:WGX) have also just scraped into the top five declines, with a 2.24% and 2.1% drop respectively.
The S&P/ASX200 is Australia’s leading share market index and contains the top 200 ASX-listed companies in terms of market capitalisation, and accounts for about 80% of the country’s equity market. The index is designed to measure the performance of the 200 largest index-eligible stocks listed on the ASX by float-adjusted market capitalisation.
It is recognised as the institutional investable benchmark in the country.
