Macmahon subsidiary wins $406 million underground mining contract

Macmahon Holdings (ASX:MAH) subsidiary Macmillan New Zealand has secured a $406.2 million underground mining services contract at the Snowy River Gold Project in New Zealand.

The five-year contract starts in October 2026 and encompasses mine development, production, and backfill operations near Reefton on New Zealand’s South Island.

Endura Mining subsidiary Tasman Mining operates Snowy River, which is targeted to reach first gold production in December 2026. The underground deposit is projected to produce 50,000 to 60,000 ounces annually over a mine life exceeding 10 years.

CEO Michael Finnegan says the contract highlights Macmillan’s underground mining capabilities and establishes the company as a key partner to advance Snowy River towards production.

“The Snowy River Project is a high-grade underground gold mining project currently being developed to become one of New Zealand’s largest gold operations,” Finnegan says.

“[It] combines Macmahon’s technical and mining expertise with Endura’s vision for the asset.

“We look forward to collaborating with the Endura team to deliver a safe, efficient, and sustainable project while realising the potential of this historic gold mine.”

Macmahon Holdings provides mining and civil infrastructure services throughout Australia and Southeast Asia.
