Macmahon snags Byerwen services contract

Macmahon Holdings (ASX:MAH) has executed a three-year contract for $792 million to provide open cut mining services for privately held Byerwen Coal at its namesake coking coal mine in the Bowen Basin of Queensland.

The company has been providing services for the mine since its establishment in 2017, including load and haul, as well as crusher feed services, employing 545 people on site.

The contact is eligible to be extended by a further two years, bringing its total value to $1.32 billion.

Macmahon CEO Michael Finnegan says the company is pleased to finalise this contract, extending on its mining services at the mine since beginning in 2017.

“The QCoal relationship and Byerwen Project are incredibly important to Macmahon and have helped underpin the company’s continued growth over the last nine years,” Finnegan says.

Byerwen Coal is a joint venture between QCoal Group and Japanese steel manufacturer JFE Steel.

Macmahon Holdings is a mining and civil infrastructure services provider focused on aiding operations in Australia and South East Asia.
