Macmahon secures million-dollar underground contract

Macmahon Holdings (ASX:MAH) has been selected by PT Freeport Indonesia as an underground mining services contractor at the Kucing Liar Mine in Central Papua, Indonesia.

The mine is part of one of the world’s largest copper-gold deposits. Kucing Liar’s current mine life is expected to run until 2041 in line with existing operating permits.

Macmahon, which has a market capitalisation of $1.15 billion, will develop all underground fixed facilities within the mine. The 34-month contract will begin immediately, with the first 12 months valued at $36 million and the remaining years agreed per year.

CEO Michael Finnegan says continuing its collaboration reflects the mining services firm’s “ongoing commitment to delivering value, fostering long-term partnerships in the region and developing Indonesia’s national workforce”.

Macmahon Holdings is a mining and civil infrastructure services provider in Australia and Southeast Asia.
