Legacy Minerals starts Mt Carrington geophysical survey

Legacy Minerals (ASX:LGM) has begun geophysical surveying at the Mt Carrington Project in New South Wales, marking the first-ever ground geophysical surveys to be conducted at the Battery and Mascotte prospects.

The company has contracted Fender Geophysics to conduct dipole-dipole induced polarisation (DDIP) ground surveys over the two prospects.

Fieldwork is expected to be complete in the next three weeks, with results to follow shortly thereafter, once data review and interpretation have been completed.

The DDIP program has been designed to identify extensions to gold-silver mineralisation at Mascotte, as well as vectoring towards potential ‘higher-grade’ copper mineralisation at the Battery prospect.

Results will be integrated with results from the ongoing surface sampling program and mapping ahead of planned drilling.

Previous drilling intercepts from the area include 40m @ 1 gram per tonne gold from 151m, including 9m @ 2.7g/t gold; 57m @ 0.3g/t gold from 81m, including 8m @ 1.3g/t gold from 129m, including 1m @ 18.7% lead, 8.7% zinc, and 43g/t silver.

Legacy CEO Christopher Byrne says the beginning of this DDIP survey represents “an important step forward in unlocking the potential of these high-potential target areas”.

“Our technical team identified strong evidence for a well-mineralised epithermal gold-silver system at Mascotte and a potentially large, fertile copper system at Battery,” Byrne says.

“These surveys will deliver critical subsurface data to refine our geological model and support the design of follow-up targeted drilling programs.”

Legacy expects to release a resource estimate for Mt Carrington in the next four weeks, followed by results from drilling at the Emu prospect in four to six weeks.

Scoping Study optimisation will begin following the completion of the updated resource estimate.

Legacy Minerals is an exploration company focused on advancing gold, silver, copper, and base metals projects in New South Wales.
