Kalgoorlie Gold Mining (ASX:KAL) has submitted five new exploration licence applications, within the southern part of the Laverton Tectonic Zone, located to the south of the Pinjin Gold Project in Western Australia.
The new applications support a long-term expansion of KalGold’s Pinjin footprint cementing the company’s strategic position in the region.
KalGold, which has a market capitalisation of $16.4 million, estimates between 12 and 18 months for the applications to be approved.
If approved, the Pinjin Gold Project area will increase by 128.5km2 to 483.5km2.
Managing Director Matt Painter says with the region almost entirely under transported cover and poorly explored, expanding the tenement footprint provides the company with the opportunity to make additional gold discoveries.
“The recent discovery by the company of primary orogenic gold mineralisation at Lighthorse in a previously untested area supports KalGold’s belief that the southern part of the Laverton Tectonic Zone has significant potential to host further undiscovered gold mineralisation,” Painter says.
“The company believes that there is multi-million ounce exploration potential in the south.”
Meanwhile, samples from a recent aircore drilling program at the Lighthorse prospect are progressing through laboratory analysis.
KalGold also has access to $130,000 in co-funding under the Western Australian Government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS) for a diamond drilling program at Kirgella Gift and Providence.
The program, comprising four holes for 1,070m, is being planned, with the IES funding available until the end of November 2025. Several drilling contractors have expressed interest in the program, with drilling to be conducted in Q3 2025.
Kalgoorlie Gold Mining is a low-cost gold explorer focused on its portfolio of projects in Western Australia, which has a total gold resource in excess of 214,000 ounces.
