ASX-listed mineral exploration company Kalgoorlie Gold Mining (ASX:KAL) has confirmed the extension of gold mineralisation at depth following a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the La Mascotte prospect, as part of its Bulong Taurus Project in Western Australia.
The results, generated by 4 RC holes, demonstrate down-plunge gold mineralisation continues and is open at depth, and provide a north-south fence of some 80m strike coverage across an area of the projected down-plunge mineralised zone.
The company says these results will be incorporated into La Mascotte’s maiden JORC 2012 Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE), which is scheduled to be delivered this quarter.
Key results include hole BLRC220092 with 3m @ 6.43g/t gold (Au) from 61m, including 1m @ 17.9g/t Au from 62-63m; and hole BLRC220088 with 1m @ 1.62g/t Au from 83m, and 1m @ 1.58g/t Au.
The company also notes results have helped constrain mineralisation and refine target definition for extensions at the prospect. These targets are projected to surface and are being assessed for future drill testing.
Drilling was designed to test the down-plunge extent of gold mineralisation from historic ‘high-grade’ mineralisation.
Speaking on the results Kalgoorlie Gold Mining Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Dr Matt Painter says: “Results from the most recent round of RC drilling at La Mascotte provide huge encouragement for the continuity of gold mineralisation to depth. KalGold’s drilling indicates a broad zone of gold mineralisation continuing to the northwest and open at depth. It seems likely that we’ve hit the southern side of the mineralised zone.

These new results are currently being incorporated into the first ever JORC (2012) Resource Estimate at La Mascotte, due for release this quarter. As one of the few outcropping gold prospects in the Eastern Goldfields, the resource will integrate extensive historic drilling data with the company’s recent work, illustrating KalGold’s cost efficient approach to building a JORC (2012) Resource base.
In addition, the company is continually reviewing and assessing opportunities throughout the Eastern Goldfields to maximise value for our shareholders. We look forward to updating shareholders of our progress on this front. 2023 will be a busy year with strong news flow.”
Kalgoorlie Gold Mining adds that additional phase 4 RC drilling at the Knockhill and Royal Star prospects also intercepted further gold mineralisation which supports the company’s discovery holes results of 6m @ 1.24g/t Au from 76m from drillhole BLRC220081.
Meanwhile, assays returned from a reconnaissance auger geochemistry program at the Pianto project are currently being assessed, and initial field reconnaissance trips to the Perrinvale project area have been completed with work ongoing.
Kalgoorlie Gold Mining’s Bulong Taurus project represents the company’s lead gold project located 35km east of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and offers opportunity for rapid conversion of new and historic drill results to JORC resources.
The project comprises the entire historic Taurus mining centre in the northeast, part of the Bulong mining centre at Hammersmith, and historic gold batteries.
Other projects in Kalgoorlie Gold Mining’s arsenal include the Kalgoorlie Project, the Laverton Tectonic Zone, and the Keith-Kilkenny Tectonic Zone, all of which are also located in Western Australia.
