Kalgoorlie Gold Mining (ASX: KAL) has announced the presence of gold mineralisation in all drill holes following phase 2 RC drilling at the La Mascotte prospect within its Bulong Taurus Project in Western Australia.
The results, generated from 12 holes, have intersected grades up to 31.9g/t Au along at least 500m of strike, with mineralisation remaining open in all directions.
Key results from the northern end of La Mascotte include:
- Hole BLRC220008: 6m @ 1.47g/t Au from 17m, incl.
- 2m @ 16.27g/t Au from 43m
- 1m @ 7.70g/t Au from 56m
- Hole BLRC220009: 4m @ 1.28g/t Au from 73m, incl.
Further intercepts from first-pass drilling at the southern end of the prospect include:
- Hole BLRC220001: 6m @ 1.16g/t Au from 73m
- Hole BLRC220002: 4m @ 2.29g/t Au from 46m
- Hole BLRC220006: 6m @ 1.18g/t Au from 57m
Commenting on the results, Kalgoorlie Gold Mining Managing Director and CEO Dr Matt Painter said: “Drill testing shows that gold mineralisation at La Mascotte is significantly more extensive than previously defined. The shallow depth of these gold intercepts brings the possibility of open pit mining, something which the Company is actively assessing.

With our prospector partners continuing to unearth near-surface gold specimens at and around La Mascotte, and visible gold intercepted in diamond drill core, it is clear that we have only just begun to uncover the extent of gold mineralisation here.
These results highlight the significant gold potential at La Mascotte. Follow-up programs are building on these results, including the recently completed first phase of diamond drilling and the newly commenced third phase of RC drilling.”
The company also reports that follow up diamond drilling at La Mascotte has been completed, with visible gold encountered in hole BLDD220002 at 75m, and ‘extensive’ alteration consistent with mineralisation recorded.
With phase 2 RC drilling complete, KAL reports that it has commenced phase 3 drilling over 2,200m of strike while it awaits further assay results from other prospects at Bulong Taurus.
Detailed assessment of the drill core is also underway with the aim of identifying vein sets associated with gold mineralisation.
