Kairos upgrades resource estimate at Mt York

Kairos Minerals (ASX:KAI) has increased its resource estimate for the Mt York Gold Project in Western Australia to 61.7 million tonnes @ 1.05 grams per tonne gold for 2.08 million ounces.

The resource estimate was upgraded from 27,000m of drilling in 2025, returning a 50% increase using a $13.40 per ounce discovery cost.

The indicated category was increased to cover 66% of the total estimate with 42.1 million tonnes @ 1.02g/t gold for 1.38 million ounces.

Kairos intends to convert the inferred resources which sit at 19.7 million tonnes @ 1.11g/t gold for 703,000 ounces, to the indicated category in 2026, as well as additional ounces below the current pit shell.

In this estimate, the company increased the gold grade by 5%, using higher drilling density and recognition of continuous ‘higher-grade’ zones of mineralisation.

The resource is believed to remain open at depth along the 4,200m trend that has been constrained only by drilling, from pit optimisation work. Kairos says work to date paves the way for further resource growth.

The company will work towards a Prefeasibility Study in 2026, along with a 50,000m drilling campaign, targeting resource extension, infill, and exploration drilling.

Drilling will include reverse circulation and diamond campaigns, testing satellite targets, including Carlindi, Gilt Dragon, Lucky 13, Zakanaka, and Hazelby.

The Prefeasibility Study is expected to be completed in Q1 2027.

Managing Director Peter Turner says the Mt York Project is one of the “largest undeveloped gold projects” in the country, following the return of an updated resource estimate.

“We have delivered on our promise to grow the gold resource again and become a premier, multimillion-ounce gold development company,” Turner says.

“I am very confident that resources will continue to grow significantly through 2026 as we embark on the largest drill program in the company’s history over this well-endowed asset.

“We plan to have four rigs turning at Mt York for most of the year as we target additional ounces at this project.”

As reported by Mining.com.au last month, Kairos was approved for a name change and consolidation of securities.

On or around today’s date (13 April), Kairos will begin trading under Pilbara Gold, using the ticker code ‘PGL’.

Kairos Minerals is focused on advancing its flagship Mt York Project, along with its portfolio of gold projects in the Pilbara and Eastern Goldfields.
