Iltani unearths Herberton high-priority anomalies

Iltani Resources (ASX:ILT) has identified 16 high-priority anomalies within the Herberton Project in Queensland, after conducting a helicopter-borne versatile time domain electromagnetic (VTEM) survey.

The VTEM survey revealed multiple strong responses, both over known mineralisation and in previously untested areas, identifying the anomalies with strong EM responses.

Iltani, which has a market capitalisation of $12.85 million, says 13 anomalies are in the immediate Orient and Deadman Creek areas. Modelling of these anomalies have produced more than 50 plates for assessment.

The company notes the extent of the plates away from the current drilling suggests considerable potential to increase the known mineralisation at Orient.

Managing Director Donald Garner says with the modelling of the project data completed, the company can now plan how it intends to work through the targets.

“We are very pleased with this outcome, as it confirms the size and scale of the overall Orient system, and the potential for Iltani to discover materially more mineralisation at Orient,” Garner says.

“Our priority is testing the targets at Orient and Deadman Creek, and to do this, we have split the targets into shallow targets for reverse circulation drilling, and deeper targets, where we need to better define the targets prior to drilling, likely by using surface EM surveys.

“Whilst we are drill-testing the Orient anomalies, we are systematically working on our way through the remaining anomalies within the central area of the Boonmoo Sag Caldera, visiting their locations to conduct mapping and sampling to see if there is anything visible at surface causing the anomaly, and then rank the targets based on the field visit plus modelling and then proceed to drill-test.”

Iltani and Mitre Geophysics have designed a two-phase program to follow-up on the VTEM anomalies.

Phase one will comprise a nine-hole reverse circulation drilling program to test multiple shallow plates, while phase two will comprise surface EM surveys to better define the deeper plates prior to drilling.

The company also received $230,375 in funding through the Queensland Government’s Collaborative Exploration Initiative scheme to carry out the Herberton Project’s VTEM survey.

The Herberton Project, covering 367km2, is located in the Herberton Mineral Field with majority of the tenements located 20km west of the town of Herberton in Northern Queensland.

Iltani Resources is a mineral explorer and developer primarily focused on precious and base metals to deliver projects necessary for a low emission future.
