Iltani Resources (ASX:ILT) has sent sorted material from its Orient Silver-Indium Project in Northern Queensland to Core Metallurgy in Brisbane for flotation test work following positive ore sorting results.
The company processed 5 tonnes of PQ diamond core through a TOMRA ore sorting circuit using dual-energy X-ray transmission (DE-XRT) technology and TOMRA’s patented AI algorithm, contAln™.
The sample was split into high-grade (561kg), medium-grade (1,448kg), and low-grade (3,075kg) fractions before being crushed to pass 37.5mm. The first sorting pass processed the 10–37.5mm fraction, followed by a second pass on the 6.3–10mm fraction to maximise product recovery.
Sorting yielded 1,108kg of product, 2,843kg of waste, and 1,133kg of unsorted material. The unsorted fraction included 1,089kg finer than 6.3mm; the remaining 44kg, larger than 37.5mm, will undergo further comminution test work.
By domain, 34% of the high-grade fraction, 22% of the medium-grade fraction, and 19% of the low-grade fraction reported to product. Overall, 22% of the total bulk sample reported to product.
“The results were visually impressive, and 22% of the feed material reported to product, 56% to waste and 22% to fines (less than 6.3mm size),” Managing Director Donald Garner says.

The company reports that Core Metallurgy will take representative samples from the product, waste, and unsorted streams for assay before starting flotation test work. The program includes individual flotation tests on each ore domain, combined tests on recombined products and fines, and confirmation test work on a composite based on expected plant feed proportions.
Orient forms part of the Herberton Project in Northern Queensland. In October 2025, Iltani reported a mineral resource estimate for Orient of 62.5 million tonnes (Mt) @ 81.50g/t silver equivalent, comprising 38.8Mt indicated and 23.7Mt inferred.
Iltani Resources is an explorer focused on base metals and critical minerals, with a portfolio of assets in Queensland and Tasmania.
