GTI Energy (ASX:GTR) has begun hydrology drilling to support a Scoping Study at the Lo Herma In-Situ Recovery Uranium Project in Wyoming, US.
The drilling will complete groundwater monitoring wells at the project, which will facilitate testing of the hydraulic parameters within the subterranean aquifer containing the Lo Herma orebody to confirm suitability for in-situ recovery (ISR) mining.
Depending on weather conditions, GTI Energy, which has a market capitalisation of $11.85 million, expects to complete drilling in the coming weeks.
Wyoming-based BRS Engineering has been engaged to conduct the Scoping Study at Lo Herma. BRS has experience with Wyoming ISR project development from exploration through to construction and rehabilitation.
GTI Energy Executive Director Bruce Lane says after increasing Lo Herma’s resource, the company is focused on completing a Scoping Study in the first half of this year.
“Results from aquifer testing and metallurgical testing should be available in February and are key inputs to the Scoping Study,” Lane says.
In December 2024, the company upgraded Lo Herma’s resource by 50%, now totalling 6.21 million tonnes @ 630 parts per million uranium equivalent for 8.57 million pounds of contained metal.
The Lo Herma Project is located in Converse County, Powder River Basin, Wyoming. The Powder River Basin region has extensive ISR uranium production history with numerous defined ISR uranium resources, central processing plants, and satellite deposits.
ISR is a low-cost and low impact way to mine uranium. GTI aims to define ISR amenable uranium resources in Wyoming.
