Great Divide Mining (ASX:GDM) has identified “compelling” targets at the Devils Mountain Gold Project in Queensland, upon completing a second light detection and ranging (LiDAR) interpretation.
The LiDAR interpretation was conducted by specialists GeoCloud Analytics, which indicated 486 potential historical mine workings. Many of the old workings were not previously known to Great Divide.
Great Divide, which has a market capitalisation of $18.96 million, says the results combined with previous exploration data has enhanced the company’s dataset used to uncover and prioritise gold and base metal targets.
The dataset also confirms Great Divide’s strategy of targeting areas of abundant historical workings, then applying modern exploration technologies to those targets.
Great Divide is planning to conduct ground follow-up of the most historical wordings, detailed mapping, rock chip and soil sampling then geophysical surveys to confirm drilling targets.
CEO Justin Haines says the dataset allows the company to get a more accurate picture of all the historical gold mining at Kilkivan prospects area.
“Shafts and adits are good indicators of the presence of significant gold and base metal mineralisation, because of the effort invested in producing those old excavations,” Haines says.
The Devils Mountain Project, prospective for an abundance of mineral occurrences, lies in the Palaeozoic Gympie and Wandilla provinces in Queensland. The project is prospective for gold, copper, silver, lead, zinc, tungsten, and mercury.
