Graphite One (TSX-V:GPH) has welcomed a new deal between the US Permitting Improvement Steering Council and Alaska aimed at speeding up approvals for critical infrastructure projects, including mines.
The memorandum of understanding will see the permitting council’s FAST-41 program work more closely with Alaskan regulators to streamline the permitting process and provide greater certainty for project developers.
Graphite One CEO Anthony Huston says the agreement shows Alaska’s leadership in advancing critical mineral projects.
The company’s Graphite Creek Project is the only Alaskan project listed on both the federal FAST-41 and Alaskan permitting dashboards.
The FAST-41 Dashboard was established to assist companies with the federal environmental review and authorisation process, improving timeliness, predictability, and transparency.
The permitting council will provide continued support, engage regularly with both project sponsors and Alaskan regulators, and coordinate and consult with the various Alaskan departments involved in the process.
Graphite One completed its FAST-41 project plan in early August which comprises a list of roles for environmental review and authorisation responsibilities, a timetable for completion dates, discussions for mitigation strategies, as well as a public schedule.
Graphite One is working towards becoming an American producer of high-grade anode materials from the supply of graphite from its flagship project through to the processing of natural graphite and manufacturing of artificial and natural graphite anode materials.
