Evergold Minerals (ASX:EG1) has identified a new zone of shallow gold mineralisation, named Vanguard, at its Duchess of York prospect within the Mt Monger Gold Project in Western Australia.
Located roughly 600m northwest of the Duchess of York main zone, initial aircore drilling at Vanguard returned 19m @ 0.86 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 28m, including 4m @ 2.37g/t Au from 40m. Additional intercepts include 9m @ 1.01g/t Au from 24m and 4m @ 0.65g/t Au from 16m.
The shallow intercepts delineate an interpreted 250m west-to-east mineralised footprint and remain open 250m to the north-northeast where drilling returned 8m @ 0.58g/t Au from surface.
Director Glenn Grayson says Vanguard is “an important addition to the Duchess of York story”.
“The aircore program was designed to systematically test the ground around the main zone, and on the first line to the northwest we have intersected broad, shallow gold mineralisation,” Grayson says.
“What is particularly exciting is the geology — stockwork quartz veining on a porphyry–sediment contact with visible sulphides — the same association we see at Duchess of York, and it supports our view that Vanguard is an extension of the same system.”
The initial results stem from 4m composite sampling across 132 aircore holes over 2,480m. The company notes reverse circulation (RC) drilling will help define grade distribution and the extent of mineralisation.
Evergold has now added Vanguard to its follow-up resource definition RC drilling program, which commences in October, to test grade continuity and true width.
The company is also targeting a maiden mineral resource estimate at Duchess of York in early 2027.
