Endeavour Silver (NYSE:EXK) has reported that an illegal blockade by members of the nearby Ejido community has halted operations since 12 August 2026 at its Terronera Mine in Jalisco, Mexico.
The company notes that the site itself remains staffed, but with a reduced workforce in order to ensure safety and security protocols are held. The site remains accessible for maintenance activities as well.
Endeavour has reported that it is in active discussions with the Ejido community leaders in an effort to resolve the conflict and resume full operations as quickly as possible. The company notes that if needed, it has the ability to pursue legal action.
An Ejido is a form of communal land ownership in Mexico, mostly established for agricultural purposes.
The community is reported to be demanding more control and access to local water supplies, better local road maintenance, assistance with medical services and communications, and increased financial assistance.
The blockade remains peaceful.
In 2025, a different Ejido community shut down Equinox Gold’s (TSX:EQX) Los Filos Mine in Guerrero, in order to prevent potential acid solution spills into the Balsas River. The company has since established 20-year land access agreements with all three communities that host the Los Filos Mine and has restarted operations and technical studies.
Endeavour Silver is a mid-tier silver producer with operating mines in Mexico and Peru and additional exploration projects across Mexico, Chile, and the US.
