Gorilla Gold Mines (ASX:GG8) has uncovered a total gold recovery of 97.5% from one sample at the Lakeview prospect, steering an upcoming maiden resource for the Comet Vale Gold Project in Western Australia’s Goldfields.
The company expects to return a resource estimate for the project in Q4 2025.
A gravity extraction from sample CVMET_001 returned 55% recovery, with 24 hour cyanide leach with a head grade of 4.8 grams per tonne gold returning a 94.5% recovery two hours following.
Gorilla Gold intends to continue its focus on metallurgical testing, with a program now targeting mineralisation across the remaining Lakeview prospect, as well as the Cheer and Sovereign North prospects.
The company has deployed three diamond drill rigs to the King Kong Lode of Lakeview, aiming to extend mineralisation down dip from the central zone, as well as two reverse circulation rigs exploring the Silverback trend, which includes the Cheer and Happy Jack prospects.
CEO Charles Hughes says Gorilla’s recent discovery at Lakeview is a “game changer” for the company’s efforts at Comet Vale this year.
“Our exploration efforts are being supported by exceptionally positive initial metallurgical testwork results which confirm that the gold can be extracted using conventional gold milling processes commonly seen in most gold mills within Western Australia,” Hughes says.
“Although this is only one sample, it is representative in both grade and mineralogy of what we see at Lakeview.
“This is important because it goes toward answering a critical question about potential economics for the project and is crucial for the upcoming maiden resource, scheduled for Q4 2025.”
With a historical production of 200,000 ounces @ 20g/t gold, Comet Vale is around 97km north of Kalgoorlie, containing several mining leases.
Meanwhile, the company expects to return results from extensional diamond drilling outside the resource area at the Mulwarrie Project in the Eastern Goldfields.
