Gorilla Gold Mines (ASX:GG8) has discovered a new ‘high-grade’ gold prospect at its Vivien Gold Project in Western Australia.
Drilling at the previously untested Vince prospect returned 2.1m @ 55.4 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 226.9m. The discovery sits on a parallel structure to the main Vivien mineralisation, located 400m north of the historical Vivien Main underground mine.
“The outstanding intercept at the Vince Prospect of 2.1m at 55.4g/t from a completely new target 400m north of the Vivien Main underground mine shows that our simple geological model is successful in identifying additional high-grade mineralisation beyond the current resource,” CEO Charles Hughes says.
Vince represents a structural repeat of Vivien Main, with multiple mineralised veins intercepted over the 400m drill hole length. An off-hole, down-hole electromagnetic conductor indicates potential for further discoveries along strike.
Drilling at the Val Prospect, located within 70m of underground development, returned 4.1m @ 5.3g/t Au from 218.8m and 7.1m @ 2g/t Au from 300m.
The Vivien Gold Project hosts a mineral resource estimate of 278,000oz at 4.2g/t gold and has historically produced 370,000oz.
Gorilla Gold has executed an agreement with a subsidiary of Gold Fields to commence de-watering of the underground mine, with pumping scheduled to begin in the coming weeks.
De-watering will provide optionality for underground access for drilling and assessment of redevelopment opportunities.
GG8 plans priority follow-up drilling at the Vince Prospect, with a rig scheduled to return to Vivien in August.
