Conico intersects heavily disseminated and semi-massive sulphides at Mount Thirsty Cobalt-Nickel Project

Conico (ASX:CNJ) reports it has intersected thick zones of semi-massive and/or heavily disseminated sulphides at the Mt Thirsty Joint Venture (MTJV).

The Mount Thirsty Cobalt-Nickel Project is located 16km north-west of Norseman in Western Australia and is a 50:50 joint venture between Conico and Greenstone Resources (ASX:GSR).

Exploration activities at the MTJV include 5 diamond drill holes being completed to date as part of the phase one drill campaign, which have intersected thick zones of semi-massive and/or heavily disseminated sulphides.

The current drill campaign is testing for extensions to the recent palladium-platinum-gold copper-nickel (PGE) discovery by Galileo Mining (ASX:GAL) located less than 20 metres from the MTJV’s northern tenement boundary.

Following from hole MTJV001 4 diamond drill holes with reverse circulation pre-collars have subsequently been completed and recently logged as part of the ongoing drill campaign.

The company reports that importantly, all holes drilled to date have intercepted wide zones of semi-massive and/or heavily disseminated sulphides, serving to define a prospective exploration horizon of at least 300 x 400 metres on the MTJV tenure, which remains open in all directions.

A further 15 holes are planned over the next 6-8 weeks as part of the aggressive phase one drill campaign. The phase two drill campaign will be fast tracked pending the receipt of initial assays.

The Mt Thirsty Project overlies a north-striking sequence of Archaean rocks of the Mount Kirk Formation at the southern end of the Norseman-Wiluna greenstone belt.

The Mount Kirk Formation comprises metamorphosed peridotite, pyroxenite, sedimentary rocks and mafic and acid volcanics. Within the area, the Mount Kirk Formation is intruded by two major mafic-ultramafic differentiated sills, the Mount Thirsty Sill, and the Mission Sill.
