Canterbury validates Briggs model, advances Monto drilling

Canterbury Resources (ASX:CBY) says initial drilling results from its Briggs Copper Project in Queensland align with the current resource block model, while preparations continue for drilling at its nearby Monto Project.

More than 2,400m have been drilled across seven holes at Briggs, with assays received for the first three holes.

Hole 26BRD0039 returned 322.3m @ 0.17% copper (Cu), 10 parts per million (ppm) molybdenum (Mo), and 0.58 grams per tonne silver (Ag) from 6.5m, including 86.9m @ 0.23% Cu, 6ppm Mo, and 0.78g/t Ag from 207.1m.

Hole 26BRD0040 intersected 388.4m @ 0.15% Cu, 10ppm Mo, and 0.45g/t Ag from 4.2m, while 26BRD0041 returned 400.5m @ 0.13% Cu, 18ppm Mo, and 0.42g/t Ag from 3.5m.

Each hole ended in mineralisation at or near its planned termination depth. Canterbury says the results show low variance from predicted grades and support the mineral resource estimate block model.

The drilling forms part of work supporting a Prefeasibility Study, alongside metallurgical testing, environmental baseline studies, and early-stage engineering.

Briggs has a mineral resource containing 2 million tonnes of copper, 73 million pounds of molybdenum, and 16.5 million ounces of silver at a 0.15% copper cut-off grade.

The 2026 infill program comprises 41 holes for about 12,500m, including the seven drilled to date. Four exploration holes totalling about 1,250m will also test copper anomalies outside the existing resource.

A further 35 holes totalling about 17,500m are planned for the first half of 2027. Canterbury says the programs aim to convert inferred resources to the indicated category.

Work at Briggs is funded by Alma Metals (ASX:ALM), which can earn up to 70% of the project by spending $15.25 million.

Meanwhile, Canterbury plans to begin about 2,000m of diamond drilling at the John Hill deposit within its wholly owned Monto Copper-Molybdenum Project in late August.

Managing Director Grant Craighead says drilling is accelerating across the company’s Queensland portfolio.

“We are pleased with progress to date and look forward to reporting a steady flow of results over the next 15 months,” Craighead says.

Canterbury notes drilling at John Hill will test the deposit’s northeastern extent and is expected to continue into the first half of 2027.
