Brightstar to map out Second Fortune’s mine planning

Brightstar Resources (ASX:BTR) has received drilling results which provide a platform for effective mine planning at the Second Fortune Gold Mine in Western Australia.

Managing Director Alex Rovira says mine planning consists of currently providing high-grade material for processing through the ore purchase agreement with Genesis Minerals (ASX:GMD).

The latest assays come from the remaining 23 underground diamond drillholes, which were part of an infill and diamond drilling program. The latest results returned grades up to 65.44 grams per tonne gold.

Rovira says the latest round of drilling continued to illustrate the consistency of the narrow-vein, high-grade gold at Second Fortune.

“The underground drilling program was designed to infill certain areas to increase confidence in the upcoming resource update, whilst also drilling extensional holes at the edges of the known ore-body and the extents of the current mine plan,” Rovira says.

Brightstar, which has a market capitalisation of $228.12 million, is planning to update the market soon on the ore processing which will result in the first gold pour of 2025, expected in March, as well as the updated resource estimate and additional assets.

The Second Fortune ore body remains open at depth and the current mine plan is only limited to drilling. The company notes the drilling at depth continues to reinforce the strong geological consistency over recent years of operational history.

Concurrently with ongoing drilling programs at the Sandstone Project, technical work continues on the Definitive Feasibility Study for Menzies and Laverton, along with near-term development of mining operations at the Jasper Hills Project.

Brightstar Resources is a Perth-based gold developer focused on its portfolio of assets in the Goldfields and Murchison regions of Western Australia.
