Brightstar Resources (ASX:BTR) reports an interim mineral resource estimate (MRE) upgrade at its Sandstone Gold Project in Western Australia, with total resources now standing at 69.3 million tonnes (Mt) @ 1.3 grams per tonne gold (Au) for 2.9 million ounces (Moz).
The upgrade represents an 18% increase in total resources and a 113% increase in measured and indicated resources to 1.1Moz @ 1.5g/t Au.
Brightstar’s group MRE now totals 4.5Moz @ 1.4g/t Au across 100Mt — a 10x increase in 3.5 years.
Managing Director Alex Rovira says the result has exceeded expectations for mineral resource growth for this first update.
“We’re thrilled to reach this important milestone at the Sandstone Project,” Rovira says.
“A huge amount of drilling has been completed at the project, so it is encouraging to see the results reflected in this interim MRE update.”
Rovira adds that current focus is on improving resource quality ahead of the Prefeasibility Study (PFS) and mining development.
“This higher confidence is crucial for the delivery of our PFS, and we are targeting further increases in subsequent estimates with drilling underway now at key deposits such as Bull Oak, Indomitable, and Two Mile Hill-Shillington.”
The interim estimate incorporates approximately 60% of the 146,000m drilling program completed during 2025 and 2026, marking the first application of Brightstar’s geological interpretation and estimation parameters to these deposits.
Resource increases were recorded at Bull Oak, up 258% to 322,000 ounces @ 1.0g/t Au; and Achilles, up 126% to 224,000 ounces @ 1.1g/t Au.
Meanwhile, Indomitable Camp resources grew 24% to 366,000 ounces @ 1.0g/t Au.
Current drilling at Sandstone focuses on infill programs at key deposits comprising over 1Moz in the inferred category. These include Two Mile Hill-Shillington with 541,000 ounces, Indomitable with 284,000 ounces, and Bull Oak with 278,000 ounces.
Brightstar expects a second MRE update in Q4 2026 alongside the PFS release, maiden ore reserve, and other growth-focused exploration programs.
