Black Canyon (ASX:BCA) has extended manganese mineralisation 400m south of its 3km base case target at the Wandanya Project in Western Australia.
Resource definition drilling has confirmed ‘high-grade’ manganese and iron intersections across the central section.
Significant manganese (Mn) results from the latest 223 holes include 10m @ 35.8% Mn from surface, including 5m @ 44% Mn from 5m; and 11m @ 32.5% Mn from 4m, including 4m @ 41.9% Mn from 10m.
Iron (Fe) intersections include 17m @ 59% Fe from 1m, including 8m @ 61% Fe from 7m; and 16m @ 58.5% Fe from 2m, including 8m @ 62.8% Fe from 7m.
The company has completed 17,200m of reverse circulation drilling across 644 holes, with resource definition drilling focused on a 50m-by-50m grid across the 3km base case target.
The drill density is suitable for indicated or measured mineral resource estimates (MREs) appropriate for scoping and feasibility studies.
“The continuity and scale of the manganese and iron mineralisation is further confirmed, particularly in the central section of the 3km-long base case target where some of the thickest and highest grades for both manganese and iron have been previously reported,” Managing Director Brendan Cummins says.
The southern expansion program successfully extended mineralisation 400m south of the base case target, with drilling intersecting shallow manganese oxide between 1m and 20m depth and deeper manganese carbonate between 20m and 60m.
Northern expansion drilling extended iron mineralisation up to 500m from the base case boundary, while manganese was extended 200m north. The company has mapped additional iron enrichment extending 2.8km north that remains untested.
Black Canyon has approximately 7,200 samples awaiting laboratory results over the next four to six weeks. The company expects to complete its maiden MRE in Q3 2026, followed by a Scoping Study in Q4.
Drilling will recommence in August to test the full 9km mineralised system, with heritage surveys completed and approvals obtained for the remaining targets.
Black Canyon is a Western Australian manganese and iron explorer advancing a portfolio of projects across the Balfour Manganese Field and Oakover Basin.
