Black Canyon (ASX:BCA) reports continued manganese and iron continuity from infill drilling at its Wandanya Project in Western Australia.
The company has completed around 17,200m of resource definition and expansion reverse circulation (RC) drilling across 644 holes, with assays now received for 786 of the 929 total holes drilled.
The latest batch covers 123 holes totalling 2,823m with an average depth of 23m.
Managing Director Brendan Cummins says the resource definition drill results continue to demonstrate the significance of the Wandanya discovery.
“Remarkably, our mineralisation intersection success rate has been almost nine out of every 10 holes drilled, which demonstrates the scale and consistency for both the iron and manganese, especially within the 3km-long base case target,” Cummins says.
“The consistency of the high-grade results gives us great confidence in the grade and scale potential of the system, which is exactly what you want for a development project.”
Black Canyon confirms infill drilling continues to confirm shallow, consistent stratiform manganese and iron mineralisation across the 3km base case target.
Significant manganese intersections from the latest drilling include 9m @ 33.5% manganese (Mn) from 2m, including 3m @ 41.1% Mn from 7m; and 10m @ 27.7% Mn from surface, including 2m @ 44.4% Mn from 8m.
Meanwhile, iron results highlight the direct shipping ore potential of the discovery, with intersections including 18m @ 56.9% iron (Fe) from 1m, including 9m @ 62.6% Fe from 6m; and 17m @ 55.4% Fe from surface, including 5m @ 59.9% Fe from 2m.
Black Canyon expects assays from approximately 4,000 samples from the remaining holes over the next two weeks.
The company is also planning a 5,000m RC drill program in mid-August to evaluate expansion potential to the south and north of the 3km base case target, covering the full 9km-long mineralised system.
Meanwhile, the maiden mineral resource estimate remains on track for completion by the end of Q3 2026. Key inputs — including light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data, differential GPS collar pickups, and downhole density surveys — have now been collated.
Inputs are likewise being compiled for a Scoping Study, which is scheduled for completion in Q4 2026.
The company also expects its detailed gravity survey, co-funded by the WA Government Exploration Incentive Scheme, to be finalised by mid-August.
Black Canyon is a mineral explorer and developer focused on manganese and iron resources in the Pilbara region of WA.
