The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) lost 31.6 points this morning (17 October) as of 10.10 AEDT, with the index gaining 0.88% over the last five days.
Sectors were mixed at open with more lower than higher over the week. The materials sector gained 3.96% this morning, with Genesis Minerals (ASX:GMD) again among the top five gainers.
The company jumped 8% to trade at $7.02.
Bellevue Gold (ASX:BGL) also made the list again, up 5.88% at $1.35 today.
Meanwhile, Iluka Resources (ASX:ILU) dropped at the open, decreasing by 10.56% to a share price of $8.30.
The S&P/ASX200 is Australia’s leading share market index and contains the top 200 ASX-listed companies in terms of market capitalisation, and accounts for about 80% of the country’s equity market.
The index is designed to measure the performance of the 200 largest index-eligible stocks listed on the ASX by float-adjusted market capitalisation.
It is recognised as the institutional investable benchmark in the country.
