Arrow Minerals (ASX:AMD) is preparing to drill ‘highly promising’ iron ore targets at its Pilbara tenements, following direct shipping ore (DSO)-grade rock chip results from recent sampling programs.
The company has identified two primary targets. The BBQ Valley channel iron deposit (CID) trend has returned rock chip samples up to 58.3% iron. The Eastern Magnetic target is a 10km-long magnetic anomaly untested by drilling.
Managing Director David Flanagan says the tenements sit on the edge of Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) operations with potential access to low-cost infrastructure.
“Our initial assessments have highlighted the potential to make discoveries on this ground,” Flanagan remarks.
“We are pushing to start drilling as soon as tenure is granted.”
Arrow expects the necessary agreements to be signed and the tenement granted before drilling begins.
BBQ Valley spans more than 2km strike length and 250m width, with extensions concealed by cover in each direction. Previous explorers, including CZR Resources (ASX:CZR) and Leeuwin Metals (ASX:LM1), identified DSO-grade channel iron mineralisation at surface across the trend.
The Eastern Magnetic Target is a meandering magnetic anomaly extending 10km and up to 1km wide, covered by transported material. Arrow considers the feature may be associated with either a CID palaeo-channel or recent channel fill.
Exploration will include field validation of previous rock chip sampling, geological mapping, and high-resolution drone magnetic surveys. Ground gravity acquisition and reverse circulation drilling with downhole measurements will follow.
The project sits less than 15km from the Warramboo Mine, part of the Robe River koint Venture, which has exported iron ore since the early 1970s.
Arrow Minerals is an Australian mineral explorer advancing a dual-hub portfolio of iron ore, bauxite, copper, and gold assets across Guinea in West Africa and Western Australia.
