Advance Metals (ASX:AVM) is gearing up for a second phase of field work at its Augustus Copper-Gold Project in Arizona to follow up on key areas of interest identified during an earlier program.
The first phase involved sampling and geological mapping, targeting known zones of mineralisation by collecting samples from surface outcrops and historical workings.
Advance says the results were “highly encouraging” and set the stage for a follow-up program to expand the mineralised areas and refine targets for future drilling.
With the second phase due to begin in the coming weeks, the company is expected to carry out additional channel sampling, trenching, and panel sampling, the results of which will be compiled to produce 3D models of the mineralised structures at Augustus.
Though it remains subject to the necessary approvals, Advance has already proposed a drilling campaign that will focus on testing the depth and continuity of the mineralisation, particularly in areas where high grade copper and gold was found during the initial sampling phase.
The company also noted that further field work may be required to define new zones of interest.
Located 125km north-west of Phoenix, the Augustus Project spans 2,229 acres in Yavapai County. Advance Metals also owns the 2,527-acre Garnet Skarn Project in Idaho.
