Zeotech strikes MoU for AusPozz™ concrete trials with global construction group

Zeotech (ASX:ZEO) has executed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with VINCI Construction to collaborate on concrete trials and demonstrations using AusPozz™ metakaolin.

Zeotech will provide agreed-upon quantities of its AusPozz™ high-reactivity metakaolin product, along with technical support and guidance for the VINCI Construction project team.

The two parties will exchange technical information and test results to support the development and commercialisation of AusPozz™ and advance the application of high-reactivity metakaolin in low-carbon concrete products.

VINCI Construction Lower Carbon Concrete Solutions Director Olivia Tillier says the company is pleased to collaborate with Zeotech to explore the potential of AusPozz™ “through concrete trials and to better understand its performance and potential application in lower-carbon construction”.

“Reducing the embodied carbon of concrete requires collaboration and the evaluation of innovative materials and solutions,” Tillier says.

Zeotech CEO James Marsh says the MoU represents an “important step” towards the commercialisation of AusPozz™.

“Working collaboratively on concrete trials will provide further opportunities to demonstrate AusPozz™ performance and potential to support lower-carbon construction, while building the technical validation required to support broader market adoption,” Marsh says.

AusPozz™ trials facilitated under the MoU are intended to validate the product as a ‘high-performance’ supplementary cementitious material that can reduce the total binder and embodied carbon of concrete, while also demonstrating the product’s compatibility with modern concrete production systems.

Results will be assessed to determine future opportunities for commercial engagement.

The agreement forms part of the broader AusPozz™ commercialisation strategy. Zeotech is also engaging with concrete and cement producers, infrastructure participants, and engineering groups seeking lower-carbon supplementary cementitious material.

The MoU will expire on 12 August 2027 and can be terminated by either party with 30 days of written notice. The MoU will expire upon the execution of a further agreement that supersedes the existing agreement.

Last month, Zeotech announced that its AusPozz™ underwent independent testing, confirming the product is eligible to replace 20% of cement in underground mining paste backfill and reduce total binder consumption. These findings present a material cost savings advantage while maintaining operational performance.

VINCI Construction is one of the world’s leading global construction and civil engineering companies, delivering commercial buildings, transport infrastructure, energy infrastructure, water systems, industrial facilities, and major civil works projects, undertaking around 75,000 projects each year.

AusPozz™ is Zeotech’s high-reactivity metakaolin, produced from its ‘high-purity’ Toondoon kaolin resource in Queensland. Designed as a ‘high-performance’ supplementary cementitious material, AusPozz™ can partially replace Portland cement to reduce the embodied carbon of concrete while improving strength and durability. Independent testing has demonstrated cement replacement rates of up to 40% in optimised concrete mixes, alongside improved compressive strength, reduced shrinkage, and enhanced durability, including mitigation of alkali-silica reaction.
