Yandal Resources seeks to expand resource base with phase one RC drilling at Mt McClure Gold Project, WA

Western Australia-based gold explorer Yandal Resources (ASX:YRL) reports it has started phase one of a reverse circulation (RC) resource expansion drilling program at its 100% owned Mt McClure Gold Project in WA’s southern Yandal Belt.

The RC expansion drilling program represents a multi-phase drilling program designed to expand the resource base at the project’s Success, Challenger and Parmelia deposits by targeting positions proximal to the margins of the current defined Mineral Resource Estimates (MRE).

Drilling will also target various advanced prospects that occur along a 10km long trend on granted mining leases and boast resource potential.

The program will comprise about 5,000m of drilling and is expected to take about 3 weeks to complete, with results expected to be returned in the March quarter of 2023.

Speaking on the drilling campaign, Yandal Resources Managing Director, Tim Kennedy said: “Our recent capital raising was primarily undertaken to provide funds for us to test the resource potential at Mt McClure, which was highlighted through the completion of the initial MRE.

“We’re pleased to be commencing this initial drilling program, to be built upon by additional programs in the new year which together will help unlock the value of this ‘highly mineralised’ tenure”

The company notes that the drilling program comes following the company’s completion of initial MRE on the margins of the 3 deposits during the September quarter.

These initial MRE resulted in a combined Resource inventory of 2.225Mt at 1.9g/t Au for 136,000oz at a 1.0g/t lower cut-off.

Yandal Resources is an ASX-listed company that currently boasts a portfolio of advanced gold exploration projects in WA’s highly prospective Yandal and Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone Belts. The company’s Mt McClure project is located about 15km southwest of historic Bronzewig gold mine and 10km from the Orelia gold mine, which are both owned by global-scale Australian gold producer Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST).

The project includes several historical open cut pits located along a 10km long prospective trend, which have produced a total of about 100,000oz of gold within the early 1990s.

With drilling now underway, Yandal Resources announces it will move forward with a review of historic and recent drilling data at the project in order to establish controls on potential ‘higher grade’ plunging shoots.
