Waratah Minerals (ASX:WTM) has reported multiple shallow, ‘high-grade’ gold intersections from its 80,000m drilling program at the Spur Project in New South Wales, with all significant intersections starting within 60m of surface.
Standout results include SPD067 returning 18m @ 1.12 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 61m and 3m @ 9.81g/t Au from 142m, including 1m at 29.17g/t Au from 143m.
SPD067 also delivered 11m @ 3.04g/t Au from 154m, including 1m @ 32.35g/t Au from 160m, and 79m @ 1.00g/t Au from 252m.
Drill hole SPD071 returned 38.3m @ 1.09g/t Au from 59.4m, including 2m @ 5.07g/t Au from 70m, and 84m @ 0.69g/t Au from 150m, continuing to link the Spur and Spur East zones.
Drilled 125m north-west of previous holes, SPD078 opened a new shallow zone with 52m @ 0.84g/t Au from 84m, including 41.6m @ 1.03g/t Au from 91.4m and 7m @ 2.64g/t Au from 126m.
Drilling demonstrates continuous ‘high-grade’ shoots over 300m strike and down-dip continuity of 350m. The combined drilled footprint for the Spur Zone now extends to 550m by 800m, with mineralisation remaining open along strike and at depth.
“These new results from the Spur Gold Zone have delivered exactly what we expected, namely, consistent, high-grade gold close to surface,” Managing Director Peter Duerden says.
“Multiple holes have returned repeatable, near-surface intersections that demonstrate both the continuity and scale of the mineralised high-grade shoots.
“Crucially, the positions and thicknesses of these intersections materially improve the project’s potential future economics. This program continues to significantly de-risk the shallow domain of this large gold system.”
WTM plans to accelerate step-out drilling to extend mineralisation eastwards towards the Essex Fault and westwards to extend shallow mineralisation northwest of Spur.
The company continues drilling at other prospects, including Gazzards, Alpine Reefs, Ironclad, and Consols, with multiple holes completed and assays pending.
