Unity Metals maps new Rohav gold targets

Unity Metals (ASX:UM1) is planning follow-up drilling at the Rohav Mountain prospect after geophysical surveys defined new targets at its Ngot Gold Project in eastern Cambodia.

A 205-line-kilometre drone magnetic survey detected two sizeable anomalies that Unity interprets as magnetite-bearing intrusions beneath the surface.

The central anomaly lies beneath and largely north of Unity’s previous drilling, which intersected a hydrothermally altered diorite intrusion but did not test the newly interpreted targets.

Unity says the anomaly may represent the source of the hydrothermal fluids associated with the alteration and gold mineralisation encountered at Rohav. However, the interpretation remains untested by drilling.

A 5.35-line-kilometre induced polarisation survey also identified coincident chargeability and resistivity anomalies around the edge of the interpreted intrusion.

The company says these anomalies could represent sulphide-rich, silicified zones or quartz veins, with those along the eastern and northern margins considered priority targets for epithermal gold mineralisation.

Managing Director Craig Mackay says the surveys have provided a possible explanation for the mineralisation intersected to date.

“The anomaly is interpreted as a magnetic-bearing intrusion and we believe that we may have identified the potential engine room for the intense hydrothermal alteration and a source for the gold mineralisation discovered in our drilling to date,” Mackay says.

Unity has completed 13 diamond holes for 2,713.3m at Rohav, intersecting stacked, shallow-dipping zones of gold mineralisation within the diorite.

Previous results include 23m @ 0.9 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 120m and 1m @ 7.9g/t Au from 33m.

The diorite is more than 150m wide and is interpreted to extend for approximately 700m, including northwards beneath shallow basalt cover. Its full extent remains unknown.

Unity notes it also completed an 8.55km² LiDAR survey to support three-dimensional geological modelling and drill planning across the steep terrain.

Follow-up drilling is likely to begin during the December quarter, after the monsoon season.

Unity holds an 85% interest in the Ngot licence, which shares a boundary with Emerald Resources’ (ASX:EMR) Okvau Gold Mine.
