Unity Metals (ASX:UM1) reports ‘significant’ gold mineralisation in its first completed drill hole at the O’Phlay Gold Project in Cambodia.
Drill hole 26DDCM001, located within the Camp prospect, intersected 40m @ 1.90 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 82m, including 5m @ 10.50g/t Au from 85m.
The hole also intersected a second interval of 8.5m @ 0.70g/t Au from 129.5m.
Managing Director Craig Mackay says the result represents the company’s “best gold intersection” in Cambodia to date.
“We are very excited about the results from our first hole in our maiden drilling at the O’Phlay Project,” Mackay says.
“The first hole was drilled directly beneath a broad zone of gold-bearing veins exposed in open pits at the Camp prospect, next door to the historical Vietnamese processing plant.”
Unity says the initial drill hole tested a broad zone of diorite-hosted veins beneath historical open pits and a gradient array induced polarisation (GAIP) anomaly.
“There are two of these prominent GAIP chargeability anomalies that have been located in the eastern portion of the Camp prospect, that collectively extend over 1.8km,” Mackay says.
The company reveals the gold mineralisation is associated with massive quartz-arsenopyrite veins up to 20m wide and stockwork veins that extend from surface and remain open at depth and along strike.
It adds that the mineralisation is intrusion-related gold similar to its Ngot Gold Project and Emerald’s (ASX:EMR) Okvau mine, located 60km to the west.
Unity has completed four drill holes totalling 570.6m out of a planned 21-hole, 3,000m diamond drilling program at O’Phlay, with assays pending for holes 26DDCM002 through 26DDCM004.
Given the initial results, the company plans to extend the drill program to test for depth and strike extensions.
Unity holds an 85% interest in the O’Phlay licence, located in the Mondulkiri Province in eastern Cambodia.
