Tivan (ASX:TVN) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Aboriginal Investment NT to explore possible collaborations for the Molyhil Tungsten Project in the Northern Territory.
The 12-month MoU provides a framework to evaluate project collaboration opportunities through June 2027.
Potential collaborations include direct investment by AI NT into Molyhil, alongside developing procurement, employment, and business contracting pathways for Aboriginal Australians.
The agreement builds on Tivan’s earlier agreements with the Central Land Council, having signed four mineral exploration deeds since November 2024 to advance commercial and vocational opportunities in Central Australia.
Tivan Executive Chairman Grant Wilson says the agreement represents a “first-in-kind” partnership.
“Since inception we have strived to formulate new language and new pathways to redefine the resources sector in the Territory, based on principles of genuine inclusion and durable alignment with Aboriginal Australians,” Wilson says.
AI NT’s chief executive Nigel Browne adds that the agreement provides Aboriginal Territorians with a “meaningful stake” in opportunities in the critical minerals sector.
“Through this engagement, we will explore how investment, employment, and enterprise development outcomes can be embedded from an early stage, creating pathways for long-term economic participation and self determination,” Browne says.
Tivan is currently progressing a Prefeasibility Study for Molyhil, which is located 220km north-east of Alice Springs. The company notes that this is scheduled for completion in Q4 2026.
Separately, the company has also signed key terms for the MoUs with Sumitomo Corporation (TYO:8053) and ETFS Capital for the planned development of the project through an incorporated joint venture.
Tivan is a critical minerals developer specialising in mining projects that support renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors.
