Tivan (ASX:TVN) has secured a new exploration and evaluation licence immediately north of its Turiscai Copper-Gold Project in Timor-Leste following a competitive tender process.
The new 50km² licence expands the Turiscai Project to eight exploration and evaluation licences covering approximately 394km².
The award follows the Timor-Leste Second Minerals Tender 2025 administered by the Autoridade Nacional dos Minerais.
Following the formal grant, initial activities will focus on geological reconnaissance, mapping, and systematic surface geochemical sampling. The field team is currently advancing a large-scale magnetic drone survey to define copper-gold drill targets.
Executive Chairman Grant Wilson says Tivan is ‘very pleased’ to win the concession.
“This was our sole bid, based on the highly encouraging progress we have made at the Turiscai Project, along with our extensive and constructive engagement with the local community,” Wilson says.
“We will integrate this concession into our work programs while continuing to advance current workstreams, [which] are focused on completing our large-scale magnetic drone survey in support of the commencement of maiden drilling in the final quarter of this year.”
Total funding of $6.4 million has been received under the grant to date.
At Turiscai, rock chip sampling has returned assays grading up to 23.10% copper, 7.19 grams per tonne gold, and 6.17% zinc. Sampling also yielded anomalous grades of up to 35.7 parts per million (ppm) silver, 1.86ppm bismuth, and 281ppm selenium.
Tivan is a critical minerals developer specialising in mining projects that support renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors.
