Tesoro reports further wide gold intercepts at El Zorro

Tesoro Resources Limited (ASX:TSO) has announced further gold intersections from infill and step-out drilling at the Ternera deposit within its El Zorro Gold Project in Chile.

Assays have been received for nine diamond drill holes, with the company reporting that all holes intercepted “significant” zones of gold mineralisation and several returning wide gold zones outside of the existing mineral resource.

The company reports that six drill rigs are operating on a 24/7 basis at Ternera, with assays outstanding for an additional 48 diamond drill holes.

Step-out and infill drilling at Ternera

Step-out drilling, including holes ZDDH0167 and ZDDH0168 was carried out at the south-western extension of the Ternera deposit, with results confirming the continuity of a “wide zone” of shallow mineralisation.

The western zone, now delineated over 700m of strike, is not included in the Ternera mineral resource, with Tesoro saying that this provides “significant potential” to build the deposit’s resource base.

Infill drill was carried out via seven holes including ZDDH0161-ZDDH0165, ZDDH0169 and ZDDH0170, with all holes returning “significant, wide zones” of mineralisation.

The drilling has also strengthened the continuity of “high-grade” gold zones within north-south fault zones.

We are particularly pleased with multiple near surface gold zones being delineated, as well as what is now a significant new zone of mineralisation to the west of the deposit, which is outside of the existing resource model. This zone has added a new north-south mineralised fault zone to the deposit and is now delineated over 700m of strike, from surface to over 300m deep. We firmly believe that the resource at Ternera can rapidly increase over the coming months with the deposit still open in all directions, the more we drill the bigger Ternera is becoming. El Zorro is showing all the hallmarks of a large Intrusive Related Gold System.”
