Infill drilling extends mineralisation at Tesoro’s El Zorro by 150m

Tesoro Resources Limited (ASX: TSO) has announced that assay results received for four holes from extensional and infill resource definition drilling at the Ternera Gold Deposit within El Zorro project in Chile has extended fault-controlled mineralisation north, east, south, and to depth.

The company said that one of the DD holes returned 100-gram metre intercept, hitting mineralisation at 152 m downhole. The DD hole ZDDH0124 returned 71.00m @ 1.63g/t Au (116g/m) from 152.00m including 19.00m @ 5.07g/t Au from 152.00m; and 7.00m @ 11.98g/t Au from 152.00m.

Other standout results included 52.00m @ 1.37g/t Au from 316.50m; 6.00m @ 1.63g/t Au from 97.00m; and 29.00m @ 0.57g/t Au from 20.00m.

Tesoro has completed 171 diamond drill holes at El Zorro for 52,855 metres, with assays remaining outstanding for 50 holes

Tesoro has completed 171 diamond drill holes at El Zorro for 52,855 metres, with assays remaining outstanding for 50 holes. TSO said that geological modelling has highlighted multiple high-grade gold zones coincident with north trending faults.

The company said that Ternera gold mineralisation remains open in all directions and drilling continues, with six drill rigs operating 24/7.

Modelling of Ternera deposit

As part of its preparations for the calculation of a Maiden Resource Estimate (MRE) at El Zorro, the company had significantly advanced modelling of the Ternera Deposit. To date four, strike extensive high-grade zones were delineated at Ternera, each >600m in strike, with mineralisation starting at surface to >300m vertically below surface.

High-grade fault zone mineralisation, previously announced from the Ternera high grade zones had included ZDDH00017: 55.50m @ 3.63g/t Au from 182.70m (MF350 fault); ZDDH00049: 27.50m @ 3.57g/t Au from 154.00m (MF350 Fault); ZDDH00069: 45.00m @ 4.02g/t Au from 292.00m (MF500 Fault); ZDDH00075: 39.00m @ 2.73g/t Au from 270.00m (MF500 Fault); and ZDDH00084: 20.70m @ 3.81g/t Au from 124.00m (MF500 Fault).

Drilling at Ternera deposit

The company had recently commenced extensional and infill resource definition drilling at the Ternera Gold Deposit within the El Zorro Gold Project.

TSO said that assays have now been received for four drillholes, ZDDH0124, ZDDH0125, ZDDH0126, and ZDDH0127, at Ternera, with all holes returning significant gold results.

High-grade drill results

The company reported that high-grade gold results were returned from all four DD holes. TSO said that the DD hole ZDDH0126 returned multiple gold zones from 9.00m to 469.00m, while ZDDH0124 was the 14th 100-gram metre intercept returned from El Zorro. ZDDH0127 returned multiple gold zones from 20.00m to 307.00m downhole and confirmed potential for further extensions to the north.

TSO said that high-grade results extend fault-controlled mineralisation north, east, south, and to depth.

Important hits included ZDDH0124: 71.00m @ 1.63g/t Au (116g/m) from 152.00m including 19.00m @ 5.07g/t Au from 152.00m and 7.00m @ 11.98g/t Au from 152.00m; ZDDH0125: 52.00m @ 1.37g/t Au from 316.50m including 21.00m @ 2.72g/t Au from 338.00m and 6.00m @ 4.39g/t Au from 349.00m; ZDDH0126: 6.00m @ 1.63g/t Au from 97.00m, 6.00m @ 1.38g/t Au from 251.00m, 3.90m @ 1.09g/t Au from 350.00m, and 10.37m @ 1.04g/t Au from 377.63m.

Significant drill results for holes ZDDH0124, ZDDH0125, ZDDH0126, and ZDDH0127 are as shown below.

The company noted that the mineralised system at Ternera is now >1km in strike length, >500m wide, and has been drilled to >400m below surface and remains open in all directions. Tesoro has completed 171 diamond drillholes at El Zorro for 52,855 metres, with assays remaining outstanding for 50 holes.

Next steps

The company said that further work will be focused on drill testing the Ternera mineralisation and additional prospects as defined in the work program. TSO said that core will be used for metallurgical testwork and resource modelling is planned.

“The emerging high-grade zones at Ternera offer significant scale and demonstrate the potential for Ternera to host a significant gold deposit”

Management statements

Tesoro Managing Director, Zeff Reeves said: “Holes ZDDH0124 and ZDDH0125 have returned exceptional results from two parallel high-grade zones within the Ternera Deposit. The emerging high-grade zones at Ternera offer significant scale and demonstrate the potential for Ternera to host a significant gold deposit. Extensional drilling also continues to intersect consistent, wide gold zones with the deposit remaining open in all directions and continuing to grow.”
