Tesoro delivers ‘outstanding’ wide gold intercepts at El Zorro, Chile

Tesoro Resources (ASX: TSO) has announced ‘bonanza’ gold intercepts following a diamond drilling campaign at the Ternera prospect within its El Zorro Gold Project in Chile.

The results, generated across seven diamond holes, are amongst the highest recorded to date at the prospect, with individual assays returning grades up to 66.10g/t Au.

Significant intercepts include:

  • Hole ZDDH0288:
    • 7m @ 66.10g/t Au from 375m; contained within
      • 63.93m @ 7.61g/t Au from 375m
  • Hole ZDDH0290:
    • 14.85m @ 2.39g/t Au from 266.80m; contained within
      • 50m @ 1.04g/t Au from 238.5m
    • 10.60m @ 14.34g/t Au from 325.40m; contained within
      • 63.60m @ 2.89g/t Au from 325.40m
  • Hole ZDDH0279:
    • 22.50m @ 1.63g/t Au from 469m; contained within
      • 57m @ 1.02g/t Au from 468m
  • Hole ZDDH0289:
    • 13m @ 4.27g/t Au from 161m; contained within
      • 34m @ 1.89g/t Au from 247m
  • Hole ZDDH0292:
    • 19.71m @ 3.64g/t Au from 177m; contained within
      • 59.71m @ 1.48g/t Au from 166m
  • Hole ZDDH0294:
    • 33m @ 1.08g/t Au from 217m; and
    • 10.42m @ 1.03g/t Au from 283.18m; and
    • 16m @ 1.22g/t Au from 307m; contained within
      • 115m @ 0.63g/t Au from 217m

Speaking on the results, Tesoro Resources Managing Director Zeff Reeves said: “Ternera and El Zorro get better with every hole. These seven holes are amongst the best results we have ever seen from Ternera, with hole ZDDH0288 returning 486g/m intercept and hole ZDDH0290 returning 184g/m’s.

These seven holes are amongst the best results we have ever seen from Ternera”

Importantly these holes have delineated consistent, wide and strike extensive mineralisation which remains open to the south and at depth. We’re assessing these zones as we believe that additional drilling could significantly increase the size of the Ternera Mineral Resource and make a material difference to the scale of the project. The widths and grades encountered provide multiple options for the project as they could support exploitation by either open pit or underground mining in the future.”

The company also notes that the mineralisation zone found in the recent drill holes ranges approximately 600m north to south and sits ‘well outside’ of the existing Mineral Resource Estimate. Additional drilling campaigns are expected to define further extensions.

The El Zorro Gold Project, which is 85% owned by Tesoro, is located approximately 800km north of the Chilean capital of Santiago, and covers a total land area of 555km².

The project currently boasts a Mineral Resource Estimate of 661,000oz Au, which places it as one of the ‘largest and most prospective’ gold properties in Chile.

With recent diamond drilling complete, Tesoro reports that it has moved forward with target generation work consisting of surface mapping and sampling while it awaits further assay results.
