This week’s Talent Tuesday starts with the news that USA Rare Earth (NASDAQ:USAR) CEO and Director Barbara Humpton is set to retire. Thras Moraitis, current CEO of the Serra Verde Group, will succeed Humpton, assuming the role on 1 October 2026.
This timeline aligns with the anticipated completion of USAR’s combination with Serra Verde at the end of August 2026.
Moraitis has been CEO of Serra Verde since January 2023, transforming the company into the only large-scale producer of the four critical magnetic rare earths outside of Asia.
Serra Verde entered into a definitive agreement to combine with USAR in April 2026, as previously reported, with the goal of creating a globally significant rare earths leader with an equity value of around US$2.8 billion ($4 billion).
Chairman Michael Blitzer has been elected as executive chairman, effective immediately. Blitzer has played a critical role in establishing USAR’s strategic director and anchoring its vision to establish a global mine-to-magnet value chain.
Blitzer has also been instrumental in leading the efforts to obtain US Government financing, leveraging his own stocks in the company until it was able to achieve certain milestones.
USA Rare Earth is building a fully integrated rare earth and permanent magnet value chain across the US and the UK, with expansion plans in France and Brazil.

Antimony Resources secures high-level defence advisor for US supply push
Also among this week’s top moves is the appointment of John M Melkon as board advisor for Antimony Resources (CSE:ATMY).
Melkon has served as a director and assistant professor at the US Military Academy since 2012 and was recently charged to lead the Critical Minerals Consortium, facilitating the coordination, planning, and execution of the consortium mission.
He also serves as co-chair for the Bilateral Defense Committee between the US and South Africa.
Melkon has a 30 year history with the US Army, focusing on national security, with combat experience in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Central and Southeast Asia.
In his teaching capacity, Melkon teaches geography seminars on Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and North Africa.
CEO Jim Atkinson says that Melkon’s background will bolster the company’s strategy and strengthen the outlook to provide a domestic antimony supply sourced from the US.
“With John’s connections to the United States Department of War and Military, he will be instrumental in introducing Antimony Resources to them, with a goal of securing [the antimony supply that the] United States […] needs for its military and assisting the company in obtaining loans and bursaries from the United States Department of War and the Export-Import Bank of the United States for the Bald Hill Antimony Project.”
