Sunshine Metals (ASX:SHN) has begun an airborne magnetics survey at the Sybil Gold Project in northeast Queensland, targeting priority prospect areas.
Areas targeted in this survey include Francis Creek, Francis Creek East, Blue Range, and Quartz Ridge, focused on supporting drill targeting and future exploration workstreams.
The magnetic and radiometric survey will cover 2,079km of survey lines, being the first detailed airborne survey conducted across the project area.
Sunshine says the survey is intended to define Sybil’s stratigraphic and structural framework and will provide “critical insights” into the controls on gold mineralisation.
The company is expected to acquire data in the next four to five days. Data processing is expected to begin shortly thereafter.
Cultural heritage surveys have progressed, with preparations for drilling and reconnaissance work underway at new prospects, including Burdekin Veins and Douglas Creek.
Drilling is expected to begin at Francis Creek, Francis Creek East, and Blue Range in late June 2026.
Managing Director Damien Keys says the company is excited to “map out the geological and structural architecture of the Sybil Gold Project”.
“These baseline datasets will enable Sunshine to better understand the controls to the epithermal system and will allow us to better target extensions to the existing mineralisation, assess for targets below shallow cover, and plan long-term target generation at the project,” Keys says.
“Sunshine is dedicated to unlocking the Sybil Project’s potential and this is a fundamental step towards that.
“We also look forward to our upcoming drill program to build on our superb previous results at Francis Creek and to be the first company to test the exciting Francis Creek East target.”
Located in North Queensland, the Sybil Gold Project lies north of Charters Towers and is in close proximity to Sunshine’s Ravenswood Consolidated Project.
Sybil is prospective for ‘high-grade’, epithermal gold, with its epithermal system first identified in the mid-1980s.
