Sunshine rolls out drilling at Liontown North

Sunshine Metals (ASX:SHN) has commenced drilling at the Liontown North prospect, located within the greater Ravenswood Consolidated Project in northern Queensland after receiving funding from the state government’s Collaborative Exploration Initiative (CEI).

The company is looking to test coincident induced polarisation and electromagnetic anomalies evident at the Liontown Dome’s north side, digging 650m deep with diamond drilling.

Metallurgy results are expected to return by September, as Sunshine predicts an upgrade to the resource.

The Queensland Government granted an accumulated $393,795 for two CEI grants, with $162,157 being deployed to this program at Liontown North, as previously reported by Mining.com.au.

Managing Director Damien Keys says the government’s recognition of Sunshine for this grant reflects the greater importance of the Liontown prospect for Queensland’s strategic and critical mineral inventory.

“The drilling at Liontown North will test our interpretation of a fold in the prospective stratigraphic horizon at Liontown. The CEI grant will cover the first ever diamond drilling of the northern contact to refine targeting models,” Keys says.

“Any mineralisation intersected will confirm the prospectivity of an untested 3km stretch of the target Liontown contact.”

Concurrent with this program, Sunshine will also conduct drilling at the Sybil Project, scheduled to begin this month before results are expected across September and October.

Sunshine Metals is an explorer focused on developing its portfolio of assets in Queensland, Australia.
