Sunshine Metals heats up Sybil’s drill rig

Sunshine Metals (ASX:SHN) has commenced a 14-hole for 1,135m diamond drilling program at the group’s Sybil site, part of the broader Ravenswood Consolidated Project in Queensland.

The program is targeting low sulphidation, epithermal gold mineralisation in the A Vein and Main Vein at the Francis Creek deposit. Drilling is expected to be completed in early October 2025, with diamond holes to be logged onsite and transported to the company’s warehouse in Charters Towers.

Managing Director Damien Keys says the diamond core will provide the company important vein thickness, composition, and orientation information.

“A huge effort from the team to have a rig turning within nine weeks of acquiring Sybil,” Keys says.

“When we picked up Sybil, we inherited a series of paper reports. We have collated these into a digital database of 4,658 rock chip samples, 201 drillholes and mapping. We have also flown a detailed topographic survey.”

A drone magnetic survey will be conducted in October, with the aim of providing detailed data that will support regional targeting and structural interpretation.

The Sybil Project sits on a more than 40km-long extensional structure infilled with Permian-Carboniferous volcanics. The project is also considered highly prospective for Pajingo-style gold mineralisation and remains underexplored.

Sunshine notes minimal modern exploration has occurred at Sybil despite advances in knowledge and understanding of the low-sulphidation epithermal systems.
