Sunshine Metals (ASX:SHN) has uncovered 6km of gold-copper-zinc prospective stratigraphic contact near the Liontown deposit, part of the Ravenswood Consolidated Project in Queensland.
This news comes after the company conducted a new interpretation at Liontown which proposes that tight folding has formed a 3.5km long dome.
Sunshine Metals, which has a market capitalisation of $12.7 million, adds that beyond Liontown, a further five targets sit on or immediately adjacent to the prospective domed contact.
These targets include Tigertown, Cougartown, Cougartown West, Lynx, and Liontown North. In addition, historical workings are present at Tigertown, Cougartown and Lynx.
Managing Director Damien Keys says the re-interpretation of existing data to generate “first class” targets is an exciting development at the Liontown deposit.
“Delineating key stratigraphic contacts is critical for volcanic massive sulphide exploration,” Keys says.
“Our team has collated multiple datasets and propose that the Liontown contact has been intensely folded and repeats 500m north of the current Liontown resource. We believe the folded stratigraphy forms a dome geometry — the Liontown dome.
“The northern margin of the Liontown dome is poorly tested, with drilling limited to four 500m spaced lines of aircore drilling and five reverse circulation holes. Despite the broad spacing, a best intercept of 4m @ 0.65 grams per tonne gold demonstrates the potential fertility of the contact at Liontown North.”
Keys notes that the Liontown dome concept and targets will be evaluated this year, with drilling expected to begin next month at Tigertown.
Once drilling is completed at Tigertown, the company intends to begin dome mapping in March 2025. During the same month, drilling results from Tigertown’s program should be returned.
The Ravenswood Consolidated Project, located in the Charters Towers-Ravenswood district, has produced more than 20 million ounces of gold and 14 million tonnes of volcanic massive sulphide zinc-copper-lead-gold ore.
