Sunshine accelerating Ravenswood progress

Sunshine Metals (ASX:SHN) is looking to commercialise its Liontown prospect within the Ravenswood Consolidated Project by fast-tracking studies after a drilling program at the Plateau and Salla prospects.

The program targeted eight holes across 599m of infill drilling at the Plateau prospect, which will be used to update the resource model in the coming weeks.

Results returned 8m @ 3.17 grams per tonne gold and 31g/t silver from 61m including 2m @ 6.97g/t gold and 84g/t silver from 62m from drillhole 25PLRC006, and 2m @ 1.4g/t gold and 16g/t silver from 70m at drillhole 25PLRC002.

Drillhole 25PLRC006 has also returned a metallurgical sample, which will be analysed with results to come shortly.

Speaking to Mining.com.au, Managing Director Damien Keys says the results from Plateau replicate similar results from historical work.

“We hit good solid thickness and grade near to other thick higher grade zones and our poorer holes were on the peripheries of the known deposit,” Keys says.

“This is good as it reaffirms our understanding of the deposit and shows predictability in the grade distribution.”

Over at the Salla prospect, Sunshine has completed a three hole reverse circulation reconnaissance program across 592m to test an induced polarisation chargeable anomaly and coincident gravity anomaly, intersecting zones of pyrite and sphalerite spaced 200m apart.

“Nothing economic as yet but we consider the drilling a potential near miss. We will collate some extra data (soils program at laboratory) and refine the target before any follow up drilling,” Keys tells this news service.

“While the focus of our efforts remains firmly on the commercialisation of the Liontown Shallow Au, it is important to advance the pipeline of targets.”

Meanwhile, the company will begin reverse circulation drilling and field work at the Sybil prospect shortly, which will contribute to its updated resource that is expected later this year.

The Ravenswood Consolidated project is located within the Charter Towers-Ravenswood district, which has historically produced more than 20 million ounces of gold and 14 million tonnes of volcanogenic massive sulfide zinc-copper-lead-gold ore.

Sunshine Metals will be attending the Noosa Mining Investor Conference, held between 23-25 July, at the Peppers Noosa Resort. Mining.com.au is an official media partner of this year’s conference.
