Star Copper (CSE:STCU) has completed the first drill hole at the Star East target in British Columbia, Canada, as part of the company’s largest exploration campaign to date at the broader Star Project.
With the first hole completed, Star Copper says it is confident the Star Project is progressing towards a better understanding of mineralisation controls and the overall deposit model.
Drilling has started at the Copper Creek South target, which has emerged as one of the company’s ‘most compelling’ exploration targets outside of the Star Main.
The company is focusing on testing multiple high-priority induced polarisation chargeability anomalies associated with coincident copper and gold soil anomalies. These are hosted within strongly altered and fractured volcanic rocks and quartz monzodiorite dyke swarms on both sides of the target’s gully system.
CEO, President, and Director Darryl Jones says drilling at Copper Creek marks the beginning of what the company believes will be a “transformational” exploration season.
“Over the last two years our technical team has systematically advanced the Star Project from a single known mineralised centre toward a district-scale exploration opportunity,” Jones says.
“Copper Creek is a prime example of that work. Historical drilling, strong surface geochemistry, compelling geophysical signatures, and widespread alteration all point toward the potential for a significant copper-gold system.”
Jones notes the company decided to move quickly to begin drilling at some of its satellite locations with the added benefit of early season helicopters, while awaiting a larger geophysical program.
“With magnetotellurics and induced polarisation being conducted during June 2026 testing, these targets became a priority to understand the geological landscape,” the CEO says.
The Star Project, located in the Golden Triangle, hosts multiple targets and exhibits geological characteristics consistent with porphyry copper deposits. The targets include Star Main, Star North, East and West, as well as Copper Creek and Copperline.
