Southern Cross Gold reports up to 22.4g/t gold equivalent at Sunday Creek Project

Junior explorer Southern Cross Gold (ASX:SXG) has intersected up to 22.4g/t gold-equivalent (Au-Eq) in a drillhole completed at its Sunday Creek Project in Victoria.

The company reports hole SDDSC066 traversed 5 ‘high-grade’ vein sets, with 9 intervals recorded containing more than 15 grams per tonne (g/t) gold (Au) and 6 intervals more than 5% antimony (Sb).

Highlights from SDDSC066 include 10.5m @ 5.8g/t Au-Eq (4.2g/t Au and 1% Sb) from 302.8m, including 0.2m @ 18.3g/t Au from 306.2m, 1m @ 23.1g/t Au-Eq (12.8g/t Au and 6.5% Sb) from 308m, and 1.5m @ 17.4g/t Au-Eq (14.2g/t Au and 2% Sb) from 311m.

This hole also intersected 7.8m @ 5.4g/t Au-Eq (4g/t Au and 0.9% Sb) from 401.3m, including 0.4m @ 42.7g/t Au-Eq (28.1g/t Au and 9.3% Sb) from 404.6m, 0.2m @ 44g/t Au-Eq (40.5g/t Au and 2.2% Sb) from 407.5m, and 0.2m @ 31.1g/t Au-Eq (26.8g/t Au and 2.7% Sb) from 408.9m.

Southern Cross reports drilling with 4 rigs is in progress at the main Sunday Creek area and up to 7.5km northeast at the Tonstal, Consols, and Leviathan prospects. The company says 16 holes are currently being geologically processed and analysed, with 4 holes in progress.

Commenting on the results, Southern Cross Gold Managing Director Michael Hudson says: “SDDSC066 hit multiple high-grade intercepts in the deepest hole at the eastern end of the prospect area and is the third-best hit on the project to date, consisting of 10m @ 22.4g/t Au-Eq, amongst multiple other high grades over a downhole length of 312m.

SDDSC066 is the 250m-to-300m depth extension of SDDSC033 that also intersected a wide mineralised footprint with high-grade components. These holes demonstrate Sunday Creek’s regularity of high-grade veins, scale, and continuity of mineralisation.

SXG is fully permitted and fully funded, with 4 rigs working both the main drill area at Sunday Creek and up to 7.5km along strike”

SXG is fully permitted and fully funded, with 4 rigs working both the main drill area at Sunday Creek and up to 7.5km along strike. We are ahead of schedule and have 15,000m remaining to drill in our 2023 drill program.

Continuous results will be released for the remainder of this year as we continue to de-risk the Sunday Creek Project, which, in my view, is one of the most exciting and high-grade gold discoveries globally given the frequency of high-grade hits.”

Southern Cross Gold will be attending Mines and Money Connect Melbourne on 14-15 June 2023.

Southern Cross Gold is an ASX-listed precious and base metals explorer searching for gold and antimony in the Victorian Goldfields. The company’s flagship Sunday Creek epizonal-style Project lies 60km north of Melbourne and covers 19,365 hectares of granted exploration tenements.

The project features an 11km mineralised trend that extends beyond the main drill area and is defined by historic workings and soil sampling. Geologically, the project is located within the Melbourne Structural Zone in the Lachlan Fold Belt.
