Southern Cross Gold (ASX:SX2) reports ‘high-grade’ drilling results from its Sunday Creek Gold-Antimony Project in Victoria, with grades continuing to strengthen at depth and mineralisation extending closer to surface in the Apollo East area.
Hole SDDSC222W1 returned 0.60m @ 993.2 grams per tonne gold equivalent (AuEq) comprising 972g/t gold (Au) and 8.9% (Sb) from 808.5m.
This result marks the ninth-best composite intersection drilled at Sunday Creek to date. The intersection sits approximately 620m below surface and extends the A130 vein set 40m deeper than previously known.
CEO Michael Hudson says the results have pushed Apollo down-dip while also delivering the shallowest ‘high-grade’ intersection in Apollo East.
“This release does two things at once. SDDSC222 and its wedge SDDSC222W1 pushed Apollo down-dip, returning 972g/t gold over 0.6m at 620m vertical depth — our ninth best intersection at Sunday Creek,” Hudson adds.
Hole SDDSC227 returned 5.1m @ 27.2g/t AuEq from 260.9m, including 2.6m @ 51.1g/t AuEq. Individual assays within this interval reached 186g/t Au and 116g/t Au, sitting just 144m below surface. The hole also returned 32.5% Sb.
“SDDSC227 makes the point better than any hole here — 32.5% antimony, alongside individual gold assays of 186g/t and 116g/t, all within 144m of surface,” Hudson says.
Apollo East now spans 140m of horizontal strike within what the company describes as a broad, multi-vein system. The company has completed 283 drill holes for 136.9km at Sunday Creek since late 2020, with results pending from 72 holes and 11
drill rigs currently operational.
Southern Cross Gold is a gold and antimony exploration company advancing a portfolio of projects in Victoria and Queensland, including the Sunday Creek, Redcastle, and Mount Isa projects.
