Sierra Rutile (ASX:SRX) has resolved strike action that started at its Area 1 operation in Sierra Leone earlier this week.
The strike action started at one of the company’s three wet concentrator plants and the mineral separation plant on Tuesday (28 May).
The action, which Sierra Rutile says is “unlawful” and not in accordance with Sierra Leone’s laws, interrupted processing at the one plant but did not impact mining or the operation of the other two concentrators.
The strike action ended following talks with employees and union officials. Sierra Leone’s labour minister and other senior government officials visited the site to help bring an end to the action.
Sierra Rutile also revealed on Wednesday (29 May), at the same time it announced the strike action, that it had completed the restart of operations at Area 1 and secured additional power generation capacity from energy supplier Himoinsa Southern Africa.
The company was ordered by the Sierra Leone Government to restart operations at Area 1 by the end of May.
