Recharge Metals (ASX:REC) has executed a heritage protection agreement with the Watarra Aboriginal Corporation for its Sunset Well Gold Project in Western Australia.
The agreement establishes protocols for cultural heritage protection over the project, located in Leonora district of the Eastern Goldfields.
Recharge has submitted a heritage survey request to support a maiden 30,000m drilling program at Sunset Well, specifically targeting the Prospero deposit and the broader 10km Prospero trend.
The company says this is set to be the first exploration drilling completed at Sunset Well since the mid-1990s.
CEO Luke Timmermans says the agreement is a “key milestone” that ensures exploration programs at the project can be conducted in a manner that protects cultural heritage, while providing a foundation for the company to work alongside the Darlot people.
“[We] would like to express our sincere thanks to the Darlot Traditional Owners for their open and honest discussions during negotiations for the Sunset Well heritage agreement,” Timmermans says.
He adds that the agreement also enables the granting of key tenement applications.
Recharge reports it has approximately $6 million cash at bank to fund exploration activities across Sunset Well and its broader regional portfolio.
The Prospero deposit hosts an inferred mineral resource of 2.87 million tonnes @ 1 gram per tonne gold for 94,500 ounces and remains open in all directions, with historical drilling showing only three holes drilled deeper than 100m vertical depth.
Significant historical intercepts at Prospero include 36m at 2.73g/t gold from 32m, including 16m at 5.39g/t gold from 36m; 8m at 4.02g/t gold from 28m, including 2m at 8.30g/t gold from 28m; and 4m at 3.62g/t gold from 32m.
Recharge Metals is a mineral explorer with an extensive portfolio of regional and international projects across Western Australia, the US, and Canada.
